Student Career Assessment

Are you a year 10 student unclear about your subject choices or what career you might be interested in; or a year 11 and 12 student who is lacking in motivation and still unsure about the suitability of the subjects you have selected?

The VIQ questionnaire is specifically designed for students like you. If you want a cost effective and simple process to help you make some decisions then read on. It will only take you 20 to 30 minutes to complete.

What is the VIQ?

The VIQ is a practical, Australian-based career guidance resource. Specifically, it is a 140-item online interest questionnaire. You will be asked to rate descriptions of aspects of work or work roles on a 4 point scale.

Once you have completed the questionnaire, a report is instantaneously generated and available for download. Your Career Coach will be notified and we will send your report within 24 business hours. (Monday to Friday, 9 to 5 Adelaide time).

The report you receive is the VIQ Gold which provides:

• Interest Profile
• List of Tasks & Job Roles that are Appealing
• List of Recommended Jobs
• Career Action Plan

You just work through the information from the reports and the Career Action Plan so that you can ascertain your career path (and subject choices).

Development of the VIQ

The VIQ was developed in 1994 by Dr.Darryl Cross (Psychologist, Director, Crossways Consulting), and Mr.Gary Simcock (Ex-Careers Counsellor, Prince Alfred College, Adelaide) with the assistance from a host of well-respected Careers Counsellors.  They are still very much involved with its use, and committed to continuing to make the VIQ the resource of its kind.  Dr.Cross has over 30 years experience as a Clinical Psychologist, and is well known to those associated with the AACC and the vocational guidance field.

The VIQ has now been used with over 60,000 students across Australia as well as in South-East Asia.
